Pickleball

Pickleball is a sport that is consistently popular with the Greenwood Men's Group. It's typically played on the first Monday of every month at 2 PM at the Loyal Heights Community Center in Ballard (inside on the basketball court).

This is a very lively event for the group!

There are often three indoor courts going at the same time. The guys usually play doubles. The community center provides all of the equipment.  All you have to do is show up. There is no cost for this event.

Trust us, you don't have to be a pickleball pro to play with the group. The "competition" is very friendly and performance standards are quite modest. But everyone really enjoys ourselves.

If you're not sure you can play pickleball, you're still welcome to come for a visit.  If you're unfamiliar with basic pickleball rules, watch the video below.

Is Pickleball Only for Young People?

You can play pickleball at any age, provided you know your capabilities and limitations. As with any sport, don't be careless with your style and intensity of play, especially if you are older.

However, the video below shows a Seattle woman playing championship pickleball at age 95.

In addition to pickleball, there is usually a cornhole set up along the sidelines so the less active members can find something suitable to play.

And, on occasion, a few men will shoot a few baskets.

There is also a gym next door; you can do a workout in the gym if you prefer.
