Greenwood Men's Group -- Subgroups

A subgroup consists of men with a shared affinity for something that is beyond the regular meetings and events of the Greenwood men's group as a whole.

The men's group has created or is thinking about creating a number of subgroups

Active Subgroups

Check our Upcoming Events web page for information about the events shown below.

The GMG Breakfast Group is the most popular. It's an excellent opportunity to socialize with your pals. Meetings are once a month.

The Walking Group takes occasional trips to a Seattle area destinations, often a park that we would not ordinarily visit. This is a wonderful opportunity to for you to walk in pleasant surroundings with your men friends.

There is a separate discussion group called "Perspectives" that focuses on topics of current interest or anything in the headlines -- including politics, health, science, artificial intelligence, psychology, elderhood, or anything at all that is topical. They meet once a month.

Possible Future Subgroups

Additional groups are always under consideration. If you show enough interest, a subgroup could be formed around your interest.

Why Have a Specialized Subgroup?

There are four reasons for the creation of these affinity groups:

  • As the size of the men's group has increased, some members have commented that it is harder spend sufficient time with other members in order to get to know them at a deeper level. That is, we are experiencing more relationships at a more superficial level rather than fewer relationships at a deeper level. Subgroups can solve this problem.
  • Not every member can regularly meet on Mondays at 2pm. Subgroups have the flexibility to meet on different days and different times.
  • Men's group events are centered mostly around discussions, pickleball and bocce ball. That leaves out a whole bunch of other activities that some members might enjoy. Subgroups can be formed around any activity, such as walking, socializing over coffee, whatever.
  • Members are somewhat geographically dispersed or have issues with transportation.  Groups could be organized around those who live close together.

If at least 3 individuals express an interest in a specific type of event or a preferred day and time, we'll find a way for those individuals to connect and organize their own group.

Is there anything you can think of that you would like to do with some of the other members? It can be anything at all. Use your imagination! There are dozens of possibilities.

Contact Alan or Bill if interested.

Or, tell the webmaster -- in as much detail as you like -- what you would like to do with other members. If you wish, you can also include your address or ZIP code in case we find someone with a similar interest near you.

We pass responses to Alan C., who is responsible for creating subgroups.
