Men's Shed

by Ken
(Seattle)

I am eager to be part of ROMEO and Men's Shed ideas, as I have a longstanding interest in woodworking, building, and construction.

Volunteering with organizations like Sound Foundations (focused on building modular tiny houses,), Habitat for Humanity, or Green Seattle could be an engaging way to connect with others who share similar passions.

We Definitely Need a Men's Shed!
by: Bill

Quite a few of our members have a background in woodworking, building things, construction, or volunteering for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity. A Men's Shed is a place where we can meet to do woodworking or other types of projects. It's also a place where we can drop by just to have a cup of coffee and chat a bit -- it not required that you actually do something.

The problem with a Men's Shed is that setting it up is complicated. First, we have to find a place where we can meet to do projects. Where can we find a space, and how much would it cost? The other issue is liability insurance. The Greenwood Men's Group is not a legal entity, so we can't get insurance as a group. A third issue is how and where to get the equipment we need to do our projects.

I think the Men's Shed idea would be a real success if we can solve the above problems. If anyone has a bright idea, post your comment to this thread.

There's no question some of the guys would like to be involved.
